Initiative by Subhajit Mukherjee aims to boost rainwater harvesting through helpline support

Mumbai (Maharashtra), April 30: In an effort to address the growing concern of declining groundwater levels across the country, a water conservation initiative is set to launch a dedicated helpline service to guide citizens on sustainable water management practices.

Environmentalist and water expert Subhajit Mukherjee, widely known for his work under the initiative “Water Hero of India,” has been actively working on rainwater harvesting solutions since 2020. With increasing awareness and demand from citizens, Subhajit Mukherjee has now decided to expand his efforts by introducing a helpline service aimed at offering guidance, consultation, and project assistance.

According to Subhajit Mukherjee, groundwater levels are continuously depleting, leading to a worsening water crisis. Concerned citizens have been reaching out for practical solutions, prompting the need for a more structured support system. “People are now becoming more aware of water conservation. Instead of depending solely on government systems, they want to take proactive steps like rainwater harvesting to improve groundwater levels and reduce dependency on external water sources,” he said.

Currently, Subhajit Mukherjee receives around 25 to 30 calls daily from individuals seeking advice on water conservation methods. The upcoming helpline is expected to streamline these efforts and extend support to a larger audience. To strengthen the initiative, two additional team members have also been appointed and trained.

The helpline, scheduled to become fully operational from May 1, will provide step-by-step guidance on setting up rainwater harvesting systems using cost-effective techniques. Subhajit Mukherjee highlighted that many solutions can be implemented using locally available materials, making it accessible for households across different regions.

Interested individuals can seek guidance via email at WaterHeroOfIndia@gmail.com or connect through WhatsApp at 9323942388. Additional information is also available on the official website.

Subhajit Mukherjee further emphasized the importance of timely action, stating that efforts should be intensified before the onset of the monsoon. Subhajit Mukherjee expressed a vision to see at least 10,000 rainwater harvesting systems installed across the country in the near future.

To raise awareness, the initiative is also leveraging social media platforms by regularly sharing informative videos and practical demonstrations, encouraging citizens to actively participate in water conservation efforts.

The initiative aims to empower communities with knowledge and tools to combat water scarcity, one household at a time.
